Introducing the Retro-Engine Sigma

Introducing the Retro-Engine Sigma

Things move on, we at GG accept that. It doesn’t mean anything is out of fashion at all, it simply means there are other options. I for one, still love the original Xbox for Coinops just because it’s cheap as chips and I own 7 of them and also bought the hard-drives to upgrade them off standard up to monster arcade classic machines. There is a downside to the Xbox though, it really doesn’t do HDMI and this is fast becoming extremely relevant.

Back in the day, Hauppauge did a nice little YpBpR capture device that was sufficient at the time, however, this isn’t that time and HDMI really has just about phased that era of connectability out of the market. HDMI (unless bothering with local-play of course which is family-cool) is now pretty standard across such capture devices and let’s face it, you really need a hi-vis jacket and steel toe-caps moving an original Xbox around, so it’s fair to say that if Nintendo can produce 350 mini-NES for the entire world to squabble over, some smart-arse can produce a similar nano-machine to combat the wide-boy Xbox.

Introducing the Retro-Engine Sigma, utilising HDMI, SD card port and a host of other trickery designed for a gamer who want’s it all on a distinctly cheap budget, we set them a challenge to offer our friends, user’s and gaming soul-mates not to mention especially ourselves, a chance to invest in a console at a slightly reduced purchase and shipping rate and wouldn’t you know it, they came through.

There are 2 choices of unit which are the 16GB and 32GB systems and we are happy to announce that we have a link for the Retro-Engine 32GB Deluxe SE Edition, which is the daddy of the INDIEGOGO campaign.

Anyways if you love a bit of retro go and check out the campaign. As it stands the project is massively over-funded and is one of the biggest successes on IndieGoGo ever, weighing in with 1963% funding and a current project total of $392,573 donated that only had a $20,000 target. Incredible!
